I stumbled upon CookbookJJ today on Hill in Pasadena coming back from lunch; I was intrigued by their library cart of bargain cookbooks outside, but when I walked inside, I happily discovered it was an entire bookstore devoted to the culture of food. There were thousands of books stacked floor to ceiling sorted by theme. There were biographies and cookbooks and cultural histories of cities and food and just about everything in between related to eating.  I left feeling like I found a one of a kind encyclopedic haven – and with some additions to my own library.

My hometown continues to thrill.
