After 6 months, I finally paid off a watercolor I bought at an art fair. I got no thank you note, just a request to transfer 20 dollars more in bank fees. 

Simultaneously, I bought this donut painting off eBay for 1/150th the cost and received this lovely note with it today.

Maybe it’s just in the stars that I buy more outsider art. Because art isn’t always about the canvas, it’s about the ephemera and the story. After I read my card, I went and bid on another piece. I wondered how much art I could buy from unknown, unrepresented by galleries artists and if that would be more impactful and meaningful than buying the cheapest piece from a talented art world star who I’ll probably never encounter. 

I may just find out.
